Category: Our Safari Blog

Our Safari Blog is our diary. I guess we all know that a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. The first step is having a plan. A plan of where to travel to, what we are interested in, the budget, the length of the safari. In Our Safari Blog we will highlight places of interest, will write about national parks, being on the safari with us. We will write about news and updates in regards to visa and travel restrictions. Lodges, safari camps and hotel reviews are part of our  blog. What does a typical day on safari with us looks like? Have a look behind the scene. We will write about sightings of animals and birds of interest. We are planning to write product and equipment reviews of stuff we use in our operations. Please follow our blog.

Across Malawi & Zambia – 13 Days on Africa’s Wild Across Malawi & Zambia – 13 Days on Africa’s Wild Roads

From the wildlife-rich floodplains of Liwonde National Park to the remote roads of northern Zambia and the thunder of Victoria Falls, our latest overland safari became a true African expedition. Over 13 days and 12 nights, we crossed Malawi and Zambia through lakeside villages, mountain roads, border posts, waterfalls, and hidden wilderness areas. Challenging road conditions in northern Malawi and Zambia tested both vehicle and driver, but rewarded us with unforgettable landscapes, authentic encounters, and experiences far beyond a traditional safari. One thing became clear along the way: Africa is best experienced slowly, and this incredible route deserves at least 16 days to fully enjoy the journey....

A few days ago we went to Liwonde National Park in A few days ago we went to Liwonde National Park in Malawi. The lifeline of the park is the Shire River — a ribbon of water that pulls everything toward it, especially in the dry season.

Here, the rhythm of the bush feels different. The river dictates the day. Early mornings bring soft light over the water, with pods of hippos grumbling and crocodiles warming up on the banks. By midday, elephants gather in impressive numbers, crossing from one side to the other, sometimes swimming — a sight that never loses its magic.

A few things that make Liwonde special:

It’s one of Malawi’s premier wildlife reserves, covering roughly 550 km² along the Shire River.

Once heavily poached, the park has seen a remarkable recovery thanks to conservation efforts led by African Parks.

Today, Liwonde is home to the “Big Four” — elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo — with rhinos reintroduced into a protected sanctuary.

It’s one of the best places in the region for boat safaris, offering a completely different perspective compared to traditional game drives.

Birdlife is exceptional, with over 400 species recorded — from fish eagles calling over the river to colorful bee-eaters lining the banks.

Crossing borders reminds us of something important — the wilderness doesn’t recognize lines on a map. It flows, just like the Shire River, connecting landscapes, wildlife, and stories.

And sometimes, stepping just a little beyond home gives you a fresh appreciation for it.

If this sparked your curiosity and you’d like to experience places like Liwonde NP yourself, get in touch with us.
We design tailor-made safaris across Zambia and beyond.

First Safari of the Season: The Return to the Bush First Safari of the Season: The Return to the Bush

Four nights, two remote camps, and no crowds — just the raw wilderness of Kafue. Our first safari of the season took us deep into Kasabushi and Musungwa with fully serviced mobile camping, where a pack of 13 African wild dogs, sable antelope, elephants, and intimate moments like a tiny baby puku defined the experience. No lions, no leopards — just a reminder that the best safaris aren’t about ticking boxes, but about immersion, atmosphere, and truly wild encounters....

South Luangwa held its breath. She stepped out of South Luangwa held its breath.

She stepped out of the mopane shadows first — the lioness. Golden, focused, every muscle tuned to the dry season's rhythm. Her amber eyes locked onto movement ahead, ears twitching to the alarm calls carried by the dust-heavy air.
Not far off, a herd of buffalo shifted uneasily. One old bull, scarred and deliberate, pushed through the thicket, brushing past branches as if the bush itself owed him passage. Strength in numbers — but even numbers falter when instinct meets hunger.

Then it happened.

The lioness dropped low, calculating the distance, the wind, the odds. The buffalo tightened their formation — a wall of horn and muscle, ancient and unmovable. No wasted energy. No drama. Just the ancient choreography of predator and prey playing out on the sunburnt stage of South Luangwa.

This is not a zoo.
This is not a documentary.

This is Zambia — raw, unscripted, and alive.
