Nestled along the shores of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi in the southern reaches of Kafue National Park, Nanzhila Lake Camp offers a peaceful and authentic Zambia safari experience surrounded by remote wilderness, rich wildlife habitats, and exceptional birdlife. Moreover, the camp’s secluded location allows guests to experience one of Africa’s largest national parks far away from busy tourist routes.

Because Nanzhila Lake Camp remains open throughout the year, visitors can enjoy dramatically different safari experiences depending on the season. During the dry months, wildlife gathers around permanent water sources, making game viewing particularly rewarding. Meanwhile, the emerald season transforms the landscape into a lush paradise that attracts migratory birds and creates spectacular photographic opportunities.

In addition, the area surrounding the camp is renowned for its diversity of wildlife. Guests regularly encounter elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, zebra, and numerous antelope species while exploring the floodplains and miombo woodlands on expertly guided game drives. Furthermore, bird enthusiasts can enjoy sightings of many resident and seasonal bird species, making the camp an excellent destination for birding safaris in Zambia.

Beyond the wildlife encounters, Nanzhila Lake Camp provides a relaxing and immersive safari atmosphere. After an early morning drive, guests can unwind while overlooking the tranquil lake or, alternatively, enjoy the changing colours of the African sunset from camp. Later in the evening, the sounds of the bush create a memorable backdrop for fireside dinners and conversations under the stars.

Because of its convenient position between Lusaka and Livingstone, the camp is also an ideal stop on a longer Zambia safari itinerary. For example, travelers can easily combine a stay at Nanzhila Lake Camp with visits to South Luangwa National Park, Lower Zambezi National Park, or Victoria Falls.

Guests can enjoy:

  • Morning and afternoon game drives
  • Seasonal birding safaris
  • Wildlife photography opportunities
  • Comfortable lake-view chalets
  • Peaceful and uncrowded safari experiences
  • Easy road access from Lusaka or Livingstone

Ultimately, Nanzhila Lake Camp combines comfort, wilderness, and exclusivity to create a truly rewarding safari experience in Kafue National Park. Whether you are seeking exceptional wildlife encounters, outstanding birding, or simply a quiet escape into nature, the camp offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of Zambia’s wild landscapes.
