This safari is for a minimum of 4 guests and a maximum of 8 guests.

A normal fitness level is required. You will do some nature walks, sit longer times in the car and do canoeing.

Itineraries

Day 1

Lusaka - the Capital of Zambia

Welcome to Lusaka, Zambia.
We meet you at Lusaka's "Kenneth Kaunda" International Airport. From here we drive through town to our lodge at the southern outskirts of Lusaka. Depending on the time of arrival of your flight we do a sightseeing tour through the city.

Day 2

Lower Zambezi Valley

Today we are leaving Lusaka and head towards the Lower Zambezi Valley.
We are crossing the escarpment several times before decending into the Lower Zambezi Valley. In Chirundu we are reaching the Zambezi River. We are left with a few kilometers on a gravel road to our destination. In the afternoon we will go on a sunset boat cruise.

Day 3

Canoe Safari on the Zambezi River

Breakfast is at 07h30 and then you meet your canoeing guide. Your canoe guide will then give you a brief run down of the canoeing days, potentially dangerous animals, safety measures while on the river and at the campsites, and techniques on canoeing.
Departure is from our jetty to the Canoe start point.
A stop is made for tea time, which is set up by our back up boat.
We stop for lunch, which is set up by our back up boat.
We continue downriver after lunch. Our back up boat goes on ahead to set up the campsite. In the late afternoon we stop at our campsite at Buffalo Beans on an island. Accommodation: in tents on Buffalo Bean Island

Day 4

Canoe Safari on the Zambezi River

Breakfast is enjoyed cooked over the fire.
We depart again on canoe downriver. Our back up boat follows close behind.
We stop to visit a local village on the banks of the Zambezi. Here we can visit the school, the shops and view the local way of life.
A stop is made again for tea, set up by our back up boat
Stop for lunch, set up by our back up boat and continue downriver after lunch.
Arrive at our campsite on Mutondo Island, already set up by our back up boat and overnight as above.

Day 5

Livingstone - Home of the Victoria Falls

It's the last morning in the Lower Zambezi Valley. Time to pack up and head back to civilization. We use the motorboat to get back to Kiambi Lodge. From here to Livingstone, the tourism capital of Zambia, is a longer drive and we have picknick lunch on the way. In the late afternoon we will arrive and check in in our lodge.

Day 6

Livingstone - Rhinos and the Victoria Falls

A day full of activities is ahead of us. In the morning we will go for White Rhino tracking in Mosi-oa-Tunya NP. Here we have the only population of White Rhinos inZambia. It's going to be a 2-3hrs walking safari but it's done in flat terrain. Being out there makes you hungry and we will have a picknick in Mosi-oa-Tunya NP. Afterwards we head to the Victoria Falls and will see them from all angles. For dinner we are back in our lodge.

Day 7

Kasane - Boat cruise in Chobe NP

Today we will get another stamp in our passports as we are crossing the border to Botswana. The new bridge across the Zambezi River is taking shape but we are still using the more adventurous way of crossing by pontoon. It's only a 30min. from the Kazungula Border Post to Kasane. Time to restock. We will check in in our lodge. In the afternoon we do a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. The area is well known for the highest concentration of elephants in Africa.

Day 8

Salt Pan Area

We are heading South through the corridor between CHobe NP and Hwange NP. There is a good chance that we are seeing some wildlife along the way, like elephants, kudu, impala or ostriches. We will stopover at Nata Bird Sanctuary where we might see Secretary, Pelicans and maybe Flamingos. We proceed to Gweta where we going to spent the night and where we meet our colleagues from Botswana.

Day 9 - 10

Nxai Pan NP

Nxai Pan NP is famous for its millennia-old baobab trees discovered by Thomas Baines in 1862 and named after him. The Nxai Pan is a fossil lake bed in the center of the national park. During the rainy season up to May a lot of wildlife from the CHobe area migrates to this area to feed on the green pasture. We are for 2 nights in the national park.

Day 11 - 13

Moremi GR

From the semi-dessert to the seasonal flood plains of the Okavango Delta. We are leaving Nxai Pan NP and head to Moremi Game Reserve. We change oryx and springbock with waterbock and lechwe. We are for 3 nights in Moremi. Plenty time for game drives.

Day 14

Maun

A final game drive will lead us out of Moremi and back to civilization. We are heading to Maun. In the afternoon you can do an optional flight over the delta (USD200 per person by a min. of 4). The last night in Botswana is enjoyed in a comfortable lodge.

Day 15

Departure from Maun

It's the last morning of the Lozabo Explorer. We will transfer you to the airport in time of your flight.
