Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Livingstone

Upon arrival at Livingstone's "Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI) we welcome you. We drive you through Livingstone to Kalahari Sand Ridge Inn, your place for the next 3 nights.

Day 2

Livingstone – Half-day Rafting and Microlight

After an energizing breakfast at the lodge you will tackle the rapids of the mighty Zambezi River on a half-day Whitewater Rafting adventure. In the afternoon you will see the Victoria Falls from the air when doing the “Flight of the Angels” with a microlight (optional). Dinner is at own account. Livingstone got a number of restaurants to choose from.

Day 3

Livingstone – Rhino tracking and Horse back safari

Another action packed day is ahead of you. In the morning we will track White Rhinos in Mosi-oa-Tunya NP. This park hosts the only population of this species in Zambia. Around 10:00AM we will return to the lodge for a break before saddling the horses for a horseback safari in the afternoon (optional)

Day 4-5

Lower Zambezi

Today we pack up and move to Lower Zambezi. The drive will take us through farmland mainly maize and sugar cane. We cross the Muchinga Escarpment at the Munali Pass before descending in to the Zambezi Valley. The following 2 nights we are going to stay at a lodge near the confluence of Kafue and Zambezi River.

On Day 5 you will go on a canoeing trip on the Zambezi River lead by an experienced canoe guide from lodge.

Day 6

Rufunsa

Today we will pass through the Capital of Zambia Lusaka. It is the political and economical centre. Planned for about 500.000 people it is home now to an estimated 3m people. We proceed along the Great East Road and cross the Muchinga Escarpment again. We stop over for the night at Bridge Camp near Luangwa Bridge Market

Day 7-9

South Luangwa

The South Luangwa Valley is rich in wildlife and well known for its excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. We will do game drives (morning and night drives) and if possible walking safaris. The last one is depending on how wet the ground and how dense the vegetation is. Safety is paramount. We will stay at Croc Valley Camp on the banks of the Luangwa River

Day 10

Lilongwe

We will leave Zambia today and cross the border to Malawi at Mchenje Border Crossing. By midday we should be in Lilongwe and will do a tour of the town in the afternoon.

Day 11+12

Nkhata Bay

Lake Malawi is the second deepest lake in the world and is home to more than 1200 fish species. We are going to have our base for 2 nights at Aqua Africa in Nkhata Bay. From here you will explore the colourful underwater scenery on snorkelling and scuba dive trips

Day 13-14

Nyika Plateau

A landscape very similar to the Scottish Highlands but in Africa – Nyika Plateau. A rough and windy area very suitable for hikes, mountain biking and of cause game drives. Zebras, Reedbucks and Roan antelopes are the main game here. For 2 nights we will stay at Chelinda Cam. This place is self-catering and I'll be your chef.

Day 15

Nkhotakota

The safari is slowing coming to an end. The last night will be spend at Nkhotakota Pottery Lodge on the shore of Lake Malawi.

Day 16

Departure

A last breakfast in the “Warm Heart of Africa” and we are on the way to the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe in time for your flight back home.
