12 - Day Best of Wildlife in Zambia Lodge Safari leads you to the best wildlife areas in Zambia: Kafue, Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa. 3 incredibly fascinating national parks. Kafue being the largest and most diverse national park in Zambia. Lower Zambezi is very scenic with plenty of bird and wildlife on the many islands dotted in the Zambezi River. South Luangwa is famous for its predators and the birthplace of the walking safari. You will go on walking safaris, do game drives, boat cruises, canoeing and enjoy the tranquility in our Zambian nature.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Lusaka

You will be met and welcomed by the driver from Latitude 15° at Lusaka's "Kenneth Kaunda" International Airport. From here it is a short drive to the hotel where you are booked for the first night. If possible he will do a little sightseeing in Lusaka but it is depending on your time of arrival. You will stay at a twin / double room at Latitude 15°. (B&B)
Distance: 30km / 45min.

Day 2-4

Central Kafue

After a hearty breakfast you check out from Latitude 15°. The driver is waiting for you and you leave Lusaka towards Kafue NP. The destination is Ila Safari Lodge, on the banks of the Kafue River. You will go on a sunset cruise on the Kafue River to get a first impression of the area. All the shared activities are included and you will arrange with your guide. Available are morning, afternoon and night game drives, walking safari, village tour, etc. You are staying in Luxury En-suite Safari Tents at Ila Safari Lodge (FB+)

Optional transfer flight from Lusaka - Ila - Lusaka at an additional cost of USD470 per person (min. 2)

Day 5

Lower Zambezi

Day 5 - Kiambi Lodge / Lower Zambezi
After a hearty breakfast we will check out from Ila - Green Lodge and leave towards the Zambezi Valley. Your destination is Kiambi Lodge, near the confluence of the Kafue and Zambezi River. You will stop for lunch at Mug & Bean in Lusaka. That's where the driver from Kiambi Lodge is awaiting you.

Day 6

Lower Zambezi Canoe Safari

After a good night's sleep you will start our canoe excursion today. Breakfast is at 07:30am and then you meet your canoeing guide. Your canoe guide will then give you a brief run down of the canoeing days, dangerous animals, safety measures while on the river and at the campsites, and techniques on canoeing. Departure is from the jetty to the Canoe start point. A stop is made for tea time, which is set up by the back up boat. You stop for lunch, which is set up by the back up boat. We continue downriver after lunch. The back up boat goes on ahead to set up the campsite. In the late afternoon you stop at the campsite at Buffalo Beans Island.

Day 7

Lower Zambezi Canoe Safari

Breakfast is enjoyed cooked over the fire. You depart again on canoe downriver. The back up boat follows close behind. You stop to visit a local village on the banks of the Zambezi. Here you can visit the school, the shops and view the local way of life. A stop is made again for tea, set up by the back up boat. Stop for lunch, set up by the back up boat and continue downriver after lunch. Arrive at the campsite, already set up by the back up boat and overnight as above.

Day 8

South Luangwa

After breakfast you have your transfer by motorboat back to Kiambi Lodge. You will have a mid morning snack at Kiambi Lodge before you drive to Lusaka for your flight with Proflight from Lusaka to Mfuwe. The pick up is arranged with Flatdogs Camp. After checking in and a bit of time to relax you will go out on your first game drive in South Luangwa. (depending on your time of arrival)

Day 9-11

South Luangwa

The following 3 days are reserved for the big game experience. You will explore the South Luangwa NP on morning and afternoon/night game drives. If possible you can do a walking safari as well. The Luangwa Valley is one of the great wilderness areas in Africa, where predator sightings (incl. Leopard and Wild dogs) are very common. You continue staying in a Luxury Safari Tent at Flatdogs Camp (FB+)

Day 12

Departure from South Luangwa

After your breakfast you will pack up and check out from Flatdogs Camp. You will be taken to the Mfuwe International Airport in time for your flight to Lusaka where you connect to the flight back home or any other destination of your choice. (B)
